Coal Creek & 120th Street Bridge Rehabilitation
Project Overview:
The 120th Street Bridge over Coal Creek Trail is being upgraded to meet current safety and design standards set by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). The project will replace the bridge deck and guardrails. Work will also include:
Repaving of 120th Street leading up to the bridge (north and south)
Updating the pedestrian crossing signal with an ADA ramp and lighting enhancements
Updating street signs and pavement markings
Restoring and stabilizing the area once the work is complete
Update 8/19/25:
120th Street and Coal Creek Bridge is now open to traffic. Drivers may still see occasional lane closures, shoulder work, or flagging throughout the month, but traffic is fully restored. Thank you for your patience during construction.
Schedule update 8/4/25:
Project construction began in July and is expected to last through late August. Other construction activities may continue beyond this date, but will not impact the bridge. This schedule is subject to change.
Trail information:
The Coal Creek Trail and existing crossing will remain open for use during the entire construction period.
Detour Route:
Once construction begins, traffic will be detoured as follows:
- Northbound traffic on 120th will be rerouted west on Dillon Road, north on US-287, and east on South Boulder Road, rejoining 120th Street north of the closure.
- Southbound traffic will follow the reverse route.
Please follow posted signs and allow extra travel time. The detour plan may be modified at any time.
