Project Background

760 W Baseline Road is located at the intersection of N. Carr Avenue and W. Baseline Road. The Lafayette Urban Renewal Authority (LURA) originally purchased this Property with the desire to construct a pocket park owned and maintained by the City of Lafayette. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the City Administration reevaluated priorities, resources, and expenditures, and determined it could no longer be a maintenance or programming partner. Since the site cannot be used for a city-owned park, LURA is ready to reimagine the site and sell the Property.

Why is LURA selling the Property?

It is not typical, or desirable, for an Urban Renewal Authority to own property for long periods. LURA wishes to sell the Property through a competitive process that will ask individuals or teams to submit a proposal outlining their plans for the property.

In 2022, LURA conducted community outreach to develop Guiding Principles to show what success may look like without being overly prescriptive of the exact project we want to see. Lafayette is a creative community, so we’re interested in what proposals teams come up with.

Thank you to everyone who submitted proposals to LURA. The subcommittee has evaluated several compelling submissions and selected a finalist to proceed with the sale process. At this time, we are no longer accepting proposals for the property.

  • We are excited to share that the subcommittee has selected 4Corners Hair Boutique as the preferred future owner of the property. 4Corners Hair Boutique, a minority- and veteran-owned business owned by a Lafayette resident, envisions creating a community-based hub that combines barbering services with opportunities to uplift others. The site will include a barbershop alongside a rental space for other small businesses or nonprofits. 4Corners runs a training program for aspiring barbers and stylists, who have the opportunity to apprentice on-site, preparing for careers in the growing barber and hair styling industry. Additionally, the project will embrace sustainability practices that support green and healthy building standards.

    As a long-time Boulder County resident and business owner, the proposer has witnessed the transformative impact of providing employment and mentorship to individuals at all stages of their careers. This project aims to help other small businesses and individuals thrive while providing education and career pathways for those who may not succeed in traditional settings. By acquiring this property, the proposer seeks to invest directly in the Lafayette community, creating a hub for growth, connection, and opportunity.
